China stocks edge higher as AI stocks gain

Chinese equities advanced on Wednesday, buoyed by optimism surrounding potential progress in US-China trade negotiations, which bolstered investor confidence. The Shanghai Composite advanced 0.71% to settle at 3,891.6, as the Shenzhen Component increased 1.26% to reach 13,454.7, recouping earlier declines.

AI-related equities spearheaded the upward momentum. Cambricon Technologies advanced 5.60%, SMIC registered a gain of 5.26%, Zhongji Innolight increased by 3.53%, and NAURA Technology rose 2.17%. Energy equities demonstrated weakness. PetroChina's shares decreased by 2.70%, CNOOC retreated 1.11%, and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation saw a decline of 1.51%.
