U.S. Stocks retreat, Fed decition on focus

US equity markets concluded Tuesday’s session in negative territory as Treasury yields advanced to multiyear highs, concurrent with a rise in crude oil prices. Investor sentiment remains guarded in anticipation of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision scheduled for Wednesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 328 points, settling at 52,093.11, whereas the S&P 500 decreased 0.45% to 7,585.73. The NASDAQ Composite index retreated 0.78% to 25,981.57. Risk appetite was subdued, mirroring declines across European and Asian benchmarks during the previous trading day.
