NBFC's Gold Loans surge 68.5% in July, RBI data shows

Loans against gold jewellery by non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) increased by 68.5 percent in July 2026. This trend of high lending against precious metals has been ongoing, as reported by the Reserve Bank. Additionally, lending for consumer durable purchases rose to 51.5 percent in July 2026, up from 46.8 percent in June and 18.8 percent a year earlier.
